Audition Date, Time, and Location
Conducting Fellows and Participants will be auditioning in the afternoon and evening of April 26th. This time is to help encourage those who have far to travel or have work obligations that Friday. Auditions will be held in room 16 on the lowest floor of the PAC Music building. Those wishing to audition must have a minimum of B.M. or B.M.E.
Auditors may attend without audition and require no college level degree. All attending the workshop may observe the auditions.
Following the Auditions, Conducting Fellows and Conducting Participants will be posted in the lobby of the PAC Auditorium at 8:00 AM, Saturday, April 27.
A brief meeting with the conducting staff, Fellows and Participants will be held at 8:30 AM, Saturday to discuss and arrange which movements to be conducted by whom.
Audition Repertoire
Mussorgsky/Ravel, Pictures at an Exhibition
Candidates will be asked to conduct in front of two pianos performing two of the three items from “Pictures at an Exhibition” as follows:
1) The opening “Promenade”
2) Candidate’s choice:
#6. “Samuel Goldenberg und Schmuyle” or
#8. Catacombae
Each Conducting Fellow should come prepared to conduct either the final movement from Rimsky-Korsakoff’s “Scheherazade”; or the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony Pathetique.
Each Conducting Participant should come prepared to conduct all three audition movements of “Pictures”, plus movement #9. “La Cabane sur des Pattes de Poule”.
