Western's Performing Arts Center, with its stunning view over Bellingham Bay, is an excellent modern facility with two outstanding performing halls - an 1100-seat auditorium and a 700-seat concert hall - as well as numerous rehearsal halls, practice rooms, classrooms and dedicated laboratory spaces. The Music Instructional Technology lab contains Macintosh/Yamaha digital music workstations for MIDI sequencing, notation, digital signal processing and ear-training. The Keyboard Instruction lab is furnished with Yamaha keyboards for class piano instruction. The Electro-Acoustic Music Studio is a professional facility containing high-end digital equipment, vintage synthesizers and software applications for composition signal processing and mixing. The Recording Studio contains audiophile equipment for recording student recitals and ensemble concerts. In addition, all students have access to an exceptional Music Library with holding in excess of 80,000 books, scores, periodicals and recordings.
