Alumni Profile - Dan Osincup
I entered the program when it was a preliminary list of classes, and I became the first graduate of the program. I especially enjoyed the program because it acted as a bridge between the biology and psychology departments by incorporating both disciplines in its curriculum. As a result of taking both psychology and biology classes, I was able to develop a comprehensive perspective on the field of neuroscience.
I was able to become involved with Dr. Grimm's research through the program. With the support of my professors, I earned a grant from WWU to pursue an independent research study.
My experience with the program created many opportunities for me following graduation. One month before graduation, I earned a job as a research associate at Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratory. After six months, I was promoted to a research coordinator.
The program provided me with the skills to work at a high paced pharmaceutical company and coordinate high volumes of research projects. I highly recommend the program to any student interested in neuroscience, and I believe it has helped my career tremendously.
