My goal as a researcher is to uncover cellular mechanisms of information processing and lasting memory to elucidate how experience changes the brain. My immediate strategy is to employ primary neuron culture preparations to examine plasticity at the cellular level and extend these findings to learning, memory and development in the whole animal using the C. elegans model system. In the future, I aim to incorporate rodent behavioral studies to further extend the understanding of the roles of proteins involved in plasticity to more complex behavior.
