Amy received her Ph.D. in Statistics with a certificate in Statistical Genetics from the University of Washington in August 2003. Her research involves the development of statistical methods for the analysis of genetic data. Personal interests include hiking and travel.

Kaveh Askari
English
PhD, University of Chicago. A specialist in cinema history, Askari's research and teaching interests include silent film, 19th century visual culture, Iranian cinema, and experimental cinema. He has recently published articles on 1890s magic lantern performance and on Mesmerism in 1910s cinema. His current projects include a special journal edition on early cinema in the Middle East, a nationally funded preservation effort for rare early amateur films, and a study of the pictorial art tradition in American silent cinema.

Max Barahona

A Chile native, Max earned a MA from Eastern Michigan Univ. and a BS from Universidad Austral de Chile. Research interests include cognition, cybernetics and political communication. He has visited & lived in Latin America, Canada, the U.S. and Europe. In 1995 he joined a Special Forces unit in the Chilean army, earning the best grade in his class. He also won a national visual art endowment for completing an original digital short movie: Ana. Max loves mountains, rain, wine and wolves.

Visiting professor Boulton comes from Auburn University where he has been the C.G. Mills Professor of Strategic Management since 1990. He has worked, taught, and conducted research in Asia, Europe and across the US. His broad range of interests include wood carving, restoring cars, and tasting good wines. He will teach strategy and international business courses.

Originally from Seoul, Korea, E-Jung obtained a Ph.D. in French from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is interested in studying the changes of French grammar over time and ways to teach that grammar. In her leisure time, she enjoys watching sports games and writing.

Timothy was born in San Diego, and attended the University of San Diego. After graduate school at UC Irvine in Organic chemistry, he received postdoctoral training in Organometallic chemistry at University of Wisconsin-Madison. He enjoys spending time with his wife Nicole and 2 year old daughter Hannah and also enjoys playing golf, basketball and softball.

Jonathan Cook

Jonathan has lived in the Northwest almost long enough to feel like a native. He grew up in New Jersey and did undergraduate work at the Univ. of Colorado-Boulder before moving to Oregon. He studies the effects of power and status in social interaction. When not attached to a computer he likes to cook (and eat) vegan food, telemark ski, and lie around and do nothing.
