North Sound Youth Symphony
now in Cooperation with
Western Washington University!

The North Sound Youth Symphony is entering its 16th season and its fourth year of partnership with Western Washington University, taking advantage of the marvelous facilities and educational resources of the WWU Music Department. This excellent youth orchestra based in Bellingham, WA, consists of over 100 young musicians, ages 9 to 22, from Blaine, Ferndale, Lynden, Mount Baker and Bellingham.
Performance Levels
NSYS offers three performance levels: Symphony, Philharmonia and Sinfonia. Conductors are Grant Donnellan, Morgan Schwab and Coral Marchant. They are assisted by a professional coaching staff and by WWU Music Education Majors who serve as coaches and mentors for the NSYS students.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals run from September through May and are held at Western Washington University in the Performing Arts Center on Monday evenings from 6:00-8:15 P.M.
Concerts
NSYS concerts are held in the acoustically excellent PAC Concert Hall and often feature student soloists as part of our ongoing Concerto Competition.
