Herschel Log #89

The Herschel 400 Club pin, telescope within a brown circle Using an 18.7 inch telescope, Sir William Herschel observed and cataloged about 2500 deep sky objects in the late 1700's. A group of observers from the Ancient City Astronomy Club in St. Augustine, Florida selected 400 of the objects to form the Herschel 400, an advanced observing program for the Astronomical League. The League awards certification for members who submit qualified observations of the whole list. The program is challenging by design and is meant for seasoned starhoppers. The League recommends beginners first tackle the less daunting Messier Catalog.

Observation log by Brad Snowder, 89th to achieve the Herschel 400 Observing Program certification.
