STAKEHOLDERS SURVEY
(Conducted in July and August 2008)
QUESTIONS (with space for open ended remarks):
- What do you admire most about the University that gives you a special sense of pride in the institution?
- What are the University’s most distinctive characteristics, assets, and strengths?
- Already the premier public comprehensive university in the Pacific Northwest, the University aspires to be the best in the nation. Do you share that aspiration? And, what special opportunities are or may be before the University that you hope the institution will take advantage of as it seeks such stature?
- What are the most critical issues and challenges that you hope the new administration and others will address?
- If you could change one thing about the University what would that be?
- How would you characterize the University’s relationship with your community? What does your community expect or hope for with regard to the new president? (Please indicate if your community is not Bellingham, eg: Seattle area, alumni community, etc.)
In closing, is there anything else you would like to share?

Individuals were asked to indicate a category that best represented their affiliation with the university and to sign the form, if they desired. Confidential responses were sent to President Shepard, who alone read the survey results.
