December 10, 2008 Budget Update

So many of you - faculty, staff, and students - have been suggesting opportunities for cost savings and improvements to effectiveness and efficiency. I have heard from you directly through email and the Community Forum (http://forum.wwu.edu/forum/192). We have collected all we have heard indirectly through discussions beginning in

departments, TLA gatherings, listening sessions, and other discussions.  Thank you for your involvement and thank you for caring.

I thought you might be interested in seeing the range of suggestions -- almost 150 to date -- that I am aware of. And, I hope you will react with critiques, refinements, and further ideas. So, the suggestions are out on the web, unfiltered, unranked, and only with preliminary and incomplete initial analysis by the submitters.  Please take a look at http://tinyurl.com/costsavingsuggestions

I really think it is healthy for us all to share feedback. So, I encourage you to use the brainstorming section of the community forum (http://forum.wwu.edu/node/408) to offer your further insights.
