WWU Recognition and Awards
Each faculty and staff member plays a vital role in fulfilling the university’s mission of engaged excellence in teaching, scholarship, and community service in a student-centered environment. Through a wide range of duties, faculty and staff dedicate their time and creative skills to ensure operations and programs are carried out in an efficient and professional manner. The university’s recognition programs during the Opening (Fall) Convocation and Employee Recognition Ceremony, in addition to the Division/College Awards, are examples of Western’s efforts to honor and thank those for their service and outstanding achievements. University-wide awards include:

We also honor the high achievements of our students through the Presidential Scholar Awards. During Western's Centennial in 2000, President Karen W. Morse instituted the Presidential Scholars Award to honor graduates for their exceptional scholarship and service to the university and community.
