Sign up for Western Alert

Western Washington University places safety and security of its students, employees and visitors as a high priority. To keep you informed in emergency situations, Western uses the Western Alert notification system. Students, faculty, and staff can stay informed about campus safety information by signing up to receive Western Alert messages.

Western Alert is a group of ways to reach students, faculty and staff with important safety and security information. Western Alerts include the following elements:

  • Voice messages over the campus fire alarm system (building enunciation)
  • Desktop notification on Western computers
  • Emails to students, faculty and staff
  • Western Alert message on the emergency communication webpage, and university homepage
  • Message on Western’s Facebook page and Twitter feed

The goal is to communicate emergency information in various ways to ensure that the most people receive a notification as quickly as possible

To participate follow the instructions below:

  • 1. Log into MyWestern
  • 2. Select Web4U
  • 3. Select Personal Information from the menu
  • 4. Select Cell Phone-View/Update
  • 5. Enter your cell phone number. Click on Update.
