Services offered by the Copyright/Student Manual office:

Copyright Services provides assistance in the following:

• Interpreting Western's copyright policy and the federal copyright laws.

• Determining whether published material is within the public domain, requires copyright clearance or is exempt under the Fair Use guidelines.

• Requesting copyright permission from copyright owners for the use of materials in class manuals, class handouts and other university uses.

• Tracking royalty fees and processing payment to copyright owners.

• Initiation and set-up of class manuals. Coordination of class manual production with Copy Services and class manual sales with the Student Bookstore.
