Sam Ripley is a student of Disaster Reduction and Emergency Planning at Western Washington University’s Huxley College of the Environment. As an undergrad research assistant for the Resilience Institute, Sam is currently working on a Small Farm Resilience grant, performing literature reviews and administrative work.
Prior to studying disaster planning, Sam worked towards a degree biology with an emphasis on ecology. Combining theories of population dynamics with disaster planning, Sam has taken an academic interest in adapting ecological models for increasing community resilience to disasters. Outside of school and work, Sam enjoys drawing, hiking and music.
