Center for Service Learning
The Center for Service-Learning brings students, faculty and community members together to collectively participate in the experiential learning and teaching process of service-learning and community-based learning.
Each quarter students from a variety of departments work in the Bellingham community to expand their knowledge and understanding of the interconnection between classroom theory and community action. Students participate in community projects ranging from the development and implementation of long-term business plans for local non-profits to working with the needle exchange program.
Service-learning and community-based learning offers students the opportunity to deepen their discoveries of global and local issues through directed community action, thoughtful inquiry and scholarship.
Please join us for a colloquium during Scholars Week as students share about the learning they did through service in the community. The presentations will be Thursday, May 17 from 11:00am-3:00pm.
