The Writing Center
Our undergraduate and graduate learning assistants find the Writing Center a rich environment for connecting the theory and praxis of peer teaching and learning. Our mission focuses on promoting in writers, including ourselves, a deeper level of critical thinking through re-envisioning writing. Challenged daily by working collaboratively with learners' differing needs and learning styles, learning assistants engage in a reflective practice, shaping and re-shaping their personal pedagogies. In that process, many assistants make pedagogical innovations that they then research, present, and publish to writing centers beyond our own, joining a larger conversation about teaching and learning.
