Laurie Caskey-Schreiber is the Administrative Service Manager for the Sociology Department. After receiving her B.A. in Communications/Broadcasting from Western Washington University in 1984, she worked for several years in a variety of positions and joined the Sociology Department in January of 1996. Many of you may also know her as one of our elected officials. Currently, Laurie is serving a four-year term on the Whatcom County Council. However, when she is here at Western, she enjoys talking to students so feel free to call or stop by her office to get any of your registration or advising questions answered.

Laurie works with the Chair and oversees various aspects of the overall operation and management of the Sociology Department. She manages the department's budget and fiscal records, oversees all personnel functions for the department, assists in planning and scheduling the department's course curriculum, prepares a variety of reports and publications, assists faculty with planning and acquisitions, supervises student employees, and performs a multitude of other administrative and support service tasks to ensure the continuous operation of the Department. Fortunately, she brings plenty of good humor along with her varied skills and abilities to keep us all glued together.
