Admissions: Student Admissions Representatives
Who are they?
Student Admissions Representatives (StARs) serve as ambassadors for the university to prospective students, their families, and other guests of WWU. StARs impact the lives of prospective college students by helping people with diverse backgrounds and experiences gain access to higher education. They help shape Western's future student body by connecting with communities of students, teachers, counselors, and families.
Qualifications?
Students interested in becoming a StAR should be knowledgeable about WWU, passionate about the university, and excited to share their stories with others. StARs demonstrate strong leadership, public speaking and communication skills among other qualities.
Recommended experience?
Students who are interested in the StAR position should take part in a wide range of academic and extra curricular opportunities on campus. The more positive experience a student has in a variety of settings on campus, the more effective they are at representing the total Western experience.
Training?
StARs receive in-depth and on-going training from members of the campus community to become experts on student life, campus resources, academic programs, athletics, the Bellingham community, Admissions, and many other topics of interest.
How many students are hired annually?
The number of students hired each year ranges from 10 to 20 students.

Yes.
