Joseph Meyer of Seattle has been appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire to serve a one-year term as the student trustee at Western Washington University.
As a trustee during the 2012-13 academic year, Meyer will represent all the citizens of Washington, but give a valuable perspective to the board of trustees because of his experience as a Western student.
Meyer, a senior, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Western in Economics/Environmental Studies with minors in Business Administration and Energy Policy.
“It is a great honor to serve as the student trustee. I look forward to working with and learning from Western’s distinguished trustees on how best to serve students and the state,” Meyer said.
Previously Meyer served as the Associated Students Legislative Liaison, as chairperson of the AS Election Board, as a member of the Board for the Washington Student Association and as an administrative aid for Western Advocates and Western Votes.
His community work includes an work as an intern with the Washington Clean Technology Board, as a U.S. Senate Page in Washington .D.C., and as a Constituent Services Intern for U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell.
