New summer program has grand fun in store
Grandparents and grandchildren will be students together this summer at Western's first-ever Grandparents U.
The program will have intergenerational pairs exploring topics in arts or sciences in a two-day program offered by WWU's Extended Education and Summer Programs and the Alumni Association.
Held July 17 and 18, families will chose from nine hands-on topics in science and art. "ESI: Earth Science Investigations," for example, will explore field geology, biology and natural history. "Everybody is Somebody's Hero" will have participants honing their storytelling skills. Other topics explore birding, marine biology, human anatomy, ink wash art, and "the chemistry of everyday stuff."
All programs are taught by WWU faculty, and are geared for kids age 7 to 14 and their grandparents.
Tuition is $195 per adult-and-child pair, with additional fees for more adults or children and for staying or eating on campus.
Discounts are available for Alumni Association members as well as Western faculty and staff.
