More room for freshmen this fall in U Residences
University Residences has reduced the number of beds available to returning students this fall in order to make sure there will be enough room for incoming freshmen.
Last fall, dozens of freshmen had to be housed in a nearby hotel after more returning students than expected had decided to stay in the residence halls. Demand for campus housing is expected to remain strong this fall, so University Residences will accept about 100 fewer returning students for campus housing, a reduction of about 8 percent of the usual number of beds open to returners.
Returning students began applying for campus housing on April 14, with spots going to the first 1,100 students. Returners who apply after the first 1,100 will go on a waiting list.
