New Parent Advancement Council organized to build scholarship support
A Parent Advancement Council was recently formed to ensure increased access to the Western experience by raising scholarship dollars and increasing philanthropic support from parents.
The Advancement Council will also provide networking opportunities that will expand Western's visibility in the business community. Steven and Tina Yentzer, parents of WWU student Jordan, will lead the council in its goals this inaugural year of raising an additional $40,000 for recruitment scholarships and establishing strong council membership. The Council's longer term goals include raising $100,000 or more annually for scholarships for incoming students.
In addition to the Yentzers of Bainbridge Island, other members of the Parent Advancement Council include Ronald Auer and Debra Garland of Olympia, Roger and Brenda Hacker of Mesa, Ariz., Jeffrey Hale and Mary Parker-Hale of Lake Forest Park, Mitchell and Catherine Kouchakji of Mukilteo, Thomas Pors and Elena Korakianitou-Pors of Seattle, Gary Price and Diane Visco-Price of Bellevue and Douglas Ralphs of Issaquah.
