Phase One

2017

November 15

Employees and students receive email regarding the annual Student Technology Fee (STF) and requesting Tech Initiatives abstracts.

November

New STF Committee holds initial meeting.

2018

January 17

Due to STF Committee: all one-page Tech Initiatives abstracts from employees.

January 24

Due to STF Committee: all one-page Tech Initiatives abstracts from students.

January 18-
February 21

STF Committee reviews all abstracts received by the two deadlines.

February 21

STF Committee selects abstracts for which it would like full proposals. (Those applicants will receive email invitations to submit full proposals.)

Phase Two

Due to colleges/divisions for prioritizing: Tech Initiatives proposals from employees.

Due to Space Administration: draft proposal.
Only if project would require any site preparation, or if project would use any space not under your department's control.

Due to AS VP for Academic Affairs for prioritizing: Tech Initiatives proposals from students.

Due to STF Committee: all prioritized Tech Initiatives proposalse from employees.
Note: Colleges and divisions must have earlier deadlines for internal priority-setting processes.

STF Committee distributes Tech Initiatives proposals to Academic Technology Committee (ATC) Chair for ATC review.

April 5

STF Committee invites Western community (via various communications) to give comments on Tech Initiatives proposals. (Comments will be posted on this STF website.)

April 5-30

STF Committee reviews Tech Initiatives proposals (to include site visits as needed).

May 1

Due to STF Committee: ATC and Western community comments on Tech Initiatives proposals.

Early May

STF Committee reviews ATC and Western community comments, develops recommendations, and sends Tech Initiatives project recommendations to presidents.

Early May

Associated Students President and Western President approve recommendations.

May 15

Tech Initiatives project awards are announced. (Applicants receive award letters via email; a list of projects awarded is posted on this STF website.)

Projects approved for funding will be posted to this section IV in late May 2018.
