Name: Michelle Dannehy Age: 19 Major: Environmental Studies Why I became an Eco Rep: Being an Eco Rep sounded like a great opportunity to get involved in the Beta/Gamma community and share my passion for the environment! Goals: My main goal for this year is to help educate residents of Beta/Gamma on what can/can't be recycled and actions they can take to work towards being more sustainable and environmentally friendly. I also want to increase overall awareness of both local and global environmental issues. Fun fact: I am currently knitting a reusable grocery bag out of flimsy plastic grocery bags! |
| Name: Katie Connors Age: 20 Year: Junior Hall: Gamma Major: Kinesiology Why I became an Eco Rep: This is my first year on campus, and I wanted to get involved in something that I support. I greatly enjoy spending time in the wilderness, and would hate to see what is left get destroyed because we don't manage our resources properly. Goals: To make fellow students of WWU be more aware of what they can do to conserve energy and water. For example, during the day turn off the overhead lights in your room and use daylight to see instead! Fun fact: I love British television. I'm not sure if it's the accents or the dry humor, but I find it all very entertaining. |

Name: Stephanie Crane Age: 20 Year: Junior Major: Biology Why I became an Eco Rep: I thought it would be a great way to meet people and get involved in my community. Goals: I'm hoping to put on lots of fun events and get all of the Beta/Gamma residents involved in making Western's campus and student body more environmentally friendly. Fun fact: I love animals despite the fact that I'm allergic to pretty much all of them. |
| Name: Sarah Idczak Age: 21 Year: Senior Major: Environmental Policy Why I became an Eco Rep: I became an EcoRep because I want to get campus residents excited about sustainability so together we can make positive changes for the environment in our residence hall and across campus. Goals: This year I hope to bring more bike parking to Birnam Wood, educate residents about everyday sustainable choices like composting and doing laundry in cold water, and help Birnam Wood win the Go For the Green Challenge! Fun Fact: I'm a former crewmember of the tall ship Lady Washington. |

Griffith Age: 18 Year: Freshman Major: Environmental Studies (Resource management and planning) Hall: Higginson Why I became an Eco Rep: I became an eco-rep because I am really interested in sustainability and green energy. I think being an eco-rep will help prepare me for the future in the environmental field. Goals: Win go for the green, get the majority of Higginson residents to cut down on energy and water use, make some fun programs and grow a beard. Fun Facts: I've ran a 4:28 mile, never broken a bone, I'm 6'5 and I know the lyrics to most Backstreet Boys and Rihanna songs. |

Name: Brad Fenbert Age: 19 Year: Freshman Major: Plastics Engineering Technology Hall: Edens Hall Why I became an Eco Rep: I wanted to be involved in my community, and I am interested in the application of engineering to solve environmental and sustainable problems. I wanted to be involved in something that interests me and would benefit a lot of people. My goals for the year: I want to increase people's knowledge of how they can be more sustainable and decrease waste. Also, I want to keep the amount of energy we use to a minimum all year, not just during the GO for Green challenge. Fun fact: I have lived in Venezuela and Honduras, when my parents were international teachers. We lived in Anaco, Venezuela for 2 years, and San Pedro Sula, Honduras for 1 year. |
| Name: Kyra Skaggs Age: 18 Year: Freshman Major: Dance and Environmental Science Hall: Edens Hall Why I became an Eco Rep: I love the outdoors, I really care about the environment, and I wanted a way to get involved on campus doing something that I am passionate about! Goals: Get more students on campus to become more aware of how we affect the Earth, and the relationship between our health and well-being and the health of the Earth, so that we can make a conscious effort to live more sustainably, in harmony with nature! Fun fact: One of the things I love is opera. I have danced in two baroque operas, and one renaissance opera! |

Name: Jasmine Boehmke Age: 19 (Freshman) Major: Fairhaven Interdisciplinary Concentration Why I became an Eco Rep: I took an Environmental Studies class through Viking Launch and it reminded me just how much I value our beautiful planet and everything living on it. Western is a pretty eco-friendly campus, but we can always do more to cut down on waste, reduce consumption and generally raise awareness about the environmental challenges we face. I enjoy working with other students and organizing fun events, as well as working towards bigger goals of reducing overall waste and our carbon footprint. Goals: Compost bins in as many places as possible! Movie nights and local diners to raise awareness. Reduction of plastic bottles and paper. Suggesting the "Yellow let it Mellow" practice. Fun fact: I have gone on several bike tours with my family including one in Ecuador, and one traveling through 9 European countries. |

Name: Jamie Halpin Age: 21 Major: Environmental Science Why I became an Eco Rep: I'm interested in promoting sustainability and environmental awareness on Western's campus, as well as becoming more involved in the student community. I hope to learn a lot from this position and am eager to work with other environmentally-minded students. Goals: One of my goals is to make it easier for students to make environmentally sound choices. For example, I would like to see more compost bins installed around the Fairhaven community, as I feel such convenience is important for students to begin thinking about what additional steps they can take to make the campus and their lives even more environmentally-friendly. Fun fact: I used to be an avid aquarium-hobbyist. |

Name: Morgan Nielsen Age: 19 Major: Environmental economics or environmental policy Why I became an Eco Rep: I became an eco rep because I wanted to be an active part of Western and learn something about how to make a community sustainable (to a degree). Goals: My goal as an eco rep is to promote composting in the dorms and to get more areas setup where people can compost. Fun fact: One fun fact about me is that on my eighteen birthday I went on my first solo backpacking trip up to Yellow Aster Butte up by Mt. Baker. |

Name: Izaac Post Age: 19 Year: Sophomore Major: Graphic Design Why I became an Eco Rep: I became an Eco-Rep because I was interested in collaborating with others to come up with environmentally friendly solutions for residents, to promote environmental habits, and to become a more involved member of the Fairhaven and Western community. I am very interested in problem solving and environmental responsibility. Goals: I want to build community, assist residents, and improve Fairhaven's environmental footprint. Fun Fact: I wish to become an architect after graduate school, focusing on sustainable building designs and the urban footprint. |
| Name: Remy Alexander Age: 18 Year: Freshman Major: Undeclared Why I became an Eco Rep: I care very much about the environment and there are so many little things that we can all do to contribute towards conservation of resources. I think it would be awesome to try to implement more environmentally friendly routines in people's lives in the dorms so that they can take some of those ways into their lives in the future. Goals: I hope to become more aware of my actions and the people and resources that are affected by them. I also hope to just work hard and learn about more issues going on in the world and what I can do to help. Fun fact: I organic farmed in Hawaii this past summer and learned how to drive a cockroach infested car without crashing when they were crawling on me. |

I love the environment and am often dissappointed by people's lack of knowledge of what can harm it and be wasteful. I hope to help educate them! Goals: Specifically, I would love if we could get a composter for Nash! Name: Jessica Thramer Age: 18 years Year: Freshman Major: Undecided but interested in Human Services Why I became an Eco Rep: I was involved in Earth club at my high school and served on the board for three years, so I wanted to carry on that interest and passion and help to make Western even more environmentally friendly. It seems like there's a big interest in sustainability in this community and I'd like to see more people get involved in it. Goals: Get residents to conserve water, recycle and maybe even compost. Get a group to go out on several beach or highway cleanups. Hold some kind of "green" event or fundraiser to peak in sustainability Fun fact: I love road biking...this summer I rode about 40 miles in the Tour de Whatcom with my dad. |
