Go for the Green Total Waste Reduction Challenge enters year five!
SHOWER TIMERS! The Resident Resource Awareness Program (ResRAP) has continued the Shower Timer water conservation pilot program in Higginson. Initial findings from the May 2011 pilot suggests that 10,098 gallons of water were saved as compared to the May 2010 data, but more data needs to be collected in order to show that the program encourages residents to be aware of their water resource usage.
COMPOSTING! Birnam Wood has entered their
third year of the composting pilot program and after their Go for the Green victory ResRAP expects the pilot to continue its success. ResRap also hopes to have garbage disposals taken out of Birnam Wood this year in an attempt to save both energy and promote composting. The composting pilot program is key towards expanding composting to the other residents halls and moving Western one step closer to being a Zero Waste Campus.
