Western's annual Total Waste Reduction challenge is going strong into year five. Founded by graduate student Kimbough Mauney, the challenge originally focused solely on electricity usage. However, over the past four years it has evolved to encompass four different types of waste: Electricity, Heat, Water, and Landfill. During Campus Sustainability Week, ResRAP, along with Eco Reps from resident's halls across campus, set up an interactive educational system in Vender's Row. The team developed "Recycling Races" to teach students proper recycling and composting practices. How much does the student body really know about sorting their trash?
Meet the Eco Reps! You can find out who your dorm hall Eco Reps are and put a face with the name.
Birnam Wood put on a program in their residential space after Halloween to cleanup pumpkins. Learn about what they did and what ripple effect took place when the BW Eco Reps took initiative in cleaning up their community.

Nash Hall takes a huge step in promoting sustainability outside the walls of Western and down into the Bellingham community. Nash residents traveled out to their adopted trail near the North Chuckanut Mountain Trailhead to clear out invasive species and plant new trees for the future sustainment of this ecosystem.
