What We're Doing
Climate Neutrality
10 x 12 Program
The 10x12 is a program of the WWU Office of Sustainability, in partnership with President Shepard and Facilities Management. The President's Climate Commitment and the Climate Action Plan call for WWU to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 35% less than 2005 levels by 2020, and for WWU to become Climate Neutral by 2050. The 10x12 pilot is the first step in development of a campus-wide program. More information here.

Climate-Neutral Western
President Morse's signature on the President's Climate Commitment set WWU on a path to climate-neutrality. In 2007 and early 2008, the Office of Sustainability and Facilities Management conducted a greenhouse gas inventory. A Climate Action Plan for the university was approved in 2010. Currently, the 10x12 Program is taking shape to pilot energy saving strategies in key areas.
