WWU Campus Sustainability Assessment
Make research on sustainability at WWU a part of your class
The WWU Office of Sustainability invites you to participate in the WWU Campus Sustainability Assessment. The goals of the Project are to create a baseline study on WWU campus sustainability and produce WWU's first Sustainability Report. The report will act as a foundation for a set of vision documents and strategic plans for these areas:
- Institutional Commitment
- Academics
- Buildings
- Campus Culture
- Community Service and Civic Engagement
- Dining Services
- Diversity and Social Justice
- Employee Well-Being
- Energy and Climate Change
- Grounds
- Investment
- Purchasing
- Transportation
- Waste
- Water
Staff and students are encouraged to pick one or more areas of inquiry and conduct research using the Campus Sustainability Assessment Framework, a joint project of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) and the WWU Office of Sustainability. It is hoped that this research will be integrated into the curriculum of winter and spring quarter classes as well as student projects.
Once complete, the report will be made available on line and in print to the WWU community and also to colleges around the country through the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). AASHE’s website will enable higher education institutions to make comparisons between schools and learn about what methods each school is using to move toward sustainability. Below, you will links to both a document outlining research questions for each area of assessment as well as a submission form once your research is complete.
