ResRAP (Residents' Resource Awareness Program) was created in 2007 and was coordinated during the 2007-2008 school year by Kimbrough Mauney as part of her Environmental Education Master's Degree. From the beginning, ResRAP had been funded by University Residences and worked out of WWU's Office of Sustainability. The program now is overseen by two undergraduate Western students, a coordinator and an assistant coordinator.
ResRAP has grown tremendously in its nine years of existence. Eco Reps are now selected through an application process and start in the program one month earlier than if elected through hall council. The program has also welcomed 6 new Lead Eco Rep Positions that serve as peer mentors to the Eco Reps. The program now allows for a maximum of 35 Eco Reps and 6 Lead Eco Reps.
