Innovation - Collaboration - Enhanced Education
The Technology Development Center (TDC) is a unique resource in NW Washington for research, technology development, proof-of-concept and product prototyping projects. The target industries are industrial design, advanced materials applications and energy technologies focused on clean transportation, and training for industries of the future. The TDC is a shared resource of Western Washington University and the Bellingham Technical College.
WWU’s goals for the TDC are to:
- Foster technology research and development through university-industry partnerships.
- Provide shared laboratory space, and technical services for technology start-ups and new initiatives for existing companies.
- Coordinate efforts to attract State and Federal funding for applied research and technological development.
Projects conducted in WWU’s space in the TDC range from early-stage applied research by academic users to process and product development by industrial clients.
The TDC brings together teams of faculty and students from the WWU’s College of Sciences and Technology (and other colleges) to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration on industry projects and to offer students experience in solving real world scientific and technical problems.
