FAQ
Do I have to audition before I declare a theatre major?
No. Auditions are only required to enter specific acting classes - usually 300 level or higher. Contact Erin Emry at (360) 650-7310 to declare a theatre major.
What concentrations does the Theatre Department offer?
We currently offer the opportunity to specialize in eight different areas: acting, dramatic writing, educational theatre, theatre management, stage management, costume design, lighting design, and scenic design. Visit our Studies page for more information.
How many concentrations can I pursue at once?
As many as you like.
What's the difference between a B.A. and a B.F.A.?
Western offers a B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) which embraces a broader liberal arts background. A B.F.A. (Bachelor of Fine Arts) focuses more on pre-professional training and less on an all-encompassing liberal arts education. WWU's Theatre Arts Department offers a B.A. because we feel a liberal arts education produces more well-rounded artists and theatre practitioners.
Who can audition for WWU Theatre Department productions?
Auditions are open to Western students and members of the Bellingham community.
Where can I find information on upcoming auditions?
Call the Theatre Office at (360) 650-3876 or stop by - we are located in PAC 395 - to learn about current audition opportunities.
