Starting with a course in September, twenty WWU students will bravely leap into the unknown and spend their year researching, creating, developing, rehearsing, and finally performing Soapbox, which will investigate the Occupy Movement and the historical, public place of dissent – the soapbox – through interactive theatre.

Liz Gerring Dance Company members Adele Nickel, Brandin Steffensen, Jessica Weiss and Claire Westby will present a 30-minute program of excerpts from their newest untitled work (world premiere in 2013) and the acclaimed she dreams in code (2011). she dreams in code was presented in August at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival to full houses and excellent reviews. “An Experiment with an Air Pump” is set within the same solid English house at the turn of two different centuries divided by a gap of two hundred years (1799 and 1999). Based on the 1767 painting by Joseph Wright, its story is one of exploration deep into past events where human beings, art, science and the answers are beautifully intertwined.
