Auditions
Theatre
Auditions are not required to declare a major in Theatre, however, they may be required to enter specific acting classes (usually 300 level or higher). Theatre production auditions are open the public, you do not need to be a declared Theatre or Dance major. Dance
Entry into the Dance BA/BFA is by audition. Students may audition through the Technique Placement Class, the annual Winter Audition, or arrange for an individual audition opportunity.
Technique Placement Class
Date: Tuesday, September 24, 2013.
Time: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm. Students should plan to arrive between 10 and 10:15 am to fill out forms and warm up.
Class Format: approximately 60-75 minutes Ballet, followed by 60-75 minutes Modern.

The Dance Program will be holding a Technique Placement Class for ALL new students interested in the Dance Major and Minor. The class is also open to non-majors interested in taking dance classes. Non-majors will be allowed to register for dance classes on a space available basis.
The purpose of the class is to help students and faculty be assured of registering for the appropriate class level (i.e. don’t be intimidated, please come; it is in your best interest!).
Wear dance attire that we can see you move in, ballet slippers for the ballet portion, bare feet or sandals for modern.

Class assignments will be posted by 2:30 p.m. on the 25th (same day) on website and bulletin boards outside the Carver and PAC studios.
Winter Auditions
Date: Saturday, February 16, 2013.
Time: 12:30pm - 2:30pm.
Location: Carver #60 dance studio, WWU Campus - get directions.
For all students interested in a Dance Major or Minor who were not able to attend the September 21 Placement Class. The audition will be a combination of Modern and Ballet technique. Students will be evaluated on the basis of previous training, alignment, and artistry.
Wear form-fitting attire that you can move easily in, ballet slippers for the ballet portion, bare feet or sandals for modern. Hair should be secured off the face.
There is no charge but advance registration is required by contacting Cher Carnell, Associate Chair at (360) 650-3893 or Cher.Carnell@wwu.edu. Registration deadline is Friday, Feb. 10.
Individual Auditions
Auditions for level placement can be arranged on an individual basis for interested students able to come to WWU campus, while classes are in session (usually weeks 2-9 of any given quarter). Contact Cher Carnell, Associate Chair at (360) 650-3893 or Cher.Carnell@wwu.edu to set up a potential visit.
