Regional Travel
Travel options for the Bellingham and Seattle areas include Bus Service, Amtrak, Greyhound, Rideshare, Taxi, Airporter Shuttle, Airplane and the State Ferries.

Frequent travelers to the Seattle area may want to purchase an ORCA card that allows travel on Seattle area transit systems without using cash.
Bus Service
- Transit systems connect Bellingham to the Seattle area for weekday travel.
- Itineraries can be created by using "trip planners" available on the transit websites.
- Trip Plans from WWU to Seattle/Lynnwood/Bellevue/Tacoma are available at the link below.
- Cost to students is about $5-$9 depending on the destination.
- Have exact fare in coins or dollar bills; drivers do not give change.

Google Maps are useful for acquainting yourself with the route you plan to take. Choose "Get Directions" and type the exact address or a street/city name to view street maps.
Amtrak Train and Greyhound Bus
Amtrak and Greyhound stations are located together at the Fairhaven Transportation Center, 401 Harris Avenue, Bellingham, about 2 miles from campus. Tickets are available online or at the station.
TIP: Greyhound tickets purchased at the station can be less expensive than buying them online.
Transportation from the Amtrak/Greyhound station to WWU campus:
- Taxi, 7 days a week
- WTA bus service, 7 days a week, www.ridewta.com or call 360-575-7433 for details:
- Bus #401 travels between the Amtrak/Greyhound station and the Downtown Bellingham Station.
- Several buses travel between the Downtown Bellingham Station and the WWU campus.
- Bus #105 travels between the Amtrak/Greyhound station and the WWU Campus in the evenings Monday - Saturday, and all day Sunday (the last 105 bus leaves the Amtrak/Greyhound station at 9:25pm on Sunday).
Viking Village Rideshare Forum
To find rideshare options, check out the rideshare forum on Viking Village, www.forum.wwu.edu/rideshare. This easy to navigate site allows students to post an offer of a ride or request a ride, and is available to WWU students only.
Bellingham and Seatac Airports
WWU - Bellingham Airport
There is no bus or shuttle service between the WWU campus and the Bellingham Airport. Taxis are numerous and are usually waiting at the airport for incoming flights.

WWU - SeaTac
The Bellair Airporter Shuttle provides service multiple times daily to and from SeaTac airport (and other locations). At SeaTac, the shuttle parks outside the baggage area, Door #00.
When making a shuttle reservation, use "Guesthouse Inn" as the Bellingham pick-up or drop-off location. This motel is located about 1 mile from campus, at 805 Lakeway Drive, near bus stops, and across from the Fred Meyer shopping center.
Transportation from Guesthouse Inn to WWU Campus:
- Taxi

- Route 90B travels between the Guesthouse Inn and campus.
- Routes 512,525 and 540 travel between the Guesthouse Inn and the Downtown Bellingham Station, with connections to many buses traveling to campus.
- The Western Student Shuttle stops at WTA bus stops near the Guesthouse Inn on its late night route to campus (Valid Western ID required to ride)
Washington State Ferries
Ferries provide service to/from the San Juan Islands, Vancouver Island and around the Puget Sound.
