Peer Advisor application

Title:             Peer Advisor 2
Reports to:    Tutoring Center Coordinator
Salary:          Starting at $9.32, Level II pay range as established by the Student Employment Center.

Qualifications:

  • Strong GPA in college coursework
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility with regard to work environment
  • Openness to training and skills development
  • Ability to work with students one-on-one and in small groups
  • Availability to work at least 6 hours per week during 2014-2015 academic year
  • Availability to attend approximately 2 hours per week of training during fall quarter
  • • Availability to attend two full days of training prior to the start of fall quarter (September 23rd and 24th) and a half-day staff meeting on Saturday, September 27th

Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic support during assigned hours
  • Perform front desk activities, including scheduling, record-keeping, and tutoring-coordination
  • Develop a full working knowledge of academic skills development materials and strategies
  • Participate in outreach activities (e.g. presenting information regarding study skills and academic support) on behalf of the Tutoring Center and other campus organization
  • Represent the Tutoring Center and support Western students using Tutoring Center services through courteous, professional behavior
