Dr. Melynda Huskey is the Vice President for Enrollment and Student Services at Western Washington University. She assumed this position in July 2017. Prior to coming to Western, Melynda served for 20 years in various roles at Washington State University, including Interim Vice President for Student Affairs, Dean of Students and Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, and Founding Director of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Allies Program. Her earliest career work was as an Assistant Professor of English at North Carolina State University where she specialized in folklore, popular culture, and Victorian fiction.

Melynda received her doctorate in English from Ohio State University in 1989 and her B.A. in English from the University of Idaho in 1984. Her publications and professional papers are centered on cultural competency and LGBTQ issues. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Association for Conflict Resolution, the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, and NASPA.

At Western, Melynda holds administrative and fiscal responsibility for Enrollment and Student Services, a division comprised of Academic and Career Development Services, Admissions and Enrollment Planning, Counseling, Health and Wellness Services, the AS Bookstore, Athletics, Campus Recreation, the Dean of Students and Office of Student Life, disAbility Resources, Financial Aid, New Student Services and Family Outreach, the Registrar’s Office, Student Activities, University Residences and Dining Services, Viking Union Facilities, and Student Outreach Services.
