Technical Services
The Technical Services Organization is responsible for the management of Information Technology Servers on campus. All computer based campus-wide services provided by WWU are implemented on servers managed by Technical Services.
Our tasks are operational, maintenance oriented, and developmental. We are responsible for keeping the servers operational and available day in and day out, maintaining operating systems, key infrastructure/backend services, and all hardware components.
Specific Technical Services tasks:
- Ensuring Operating Systems are current and patched
- Keeping key infrastructure services current and patched
- Maintaining backup and recovery solutions for all servers and services
- Trouble-shooting server hardware issues, acquiring replacement parts
- Designing new hardware/software solutions to meet new campus services
- Creating and maintaining account management tools for all users on campus

- Directory Services: MS AD-LDAP, Novell NDS-LDAP, Sun-NIS+ and LDAP

- Email services: MS-Exchange/Outlook, Sun SMTP/Squirrel Mail
- Backup services: Veritas
- Wireless management: Bluesocket
- Web services: WebSSO, Portal, PHP, Java, Frontpage, ASP and .NET
