- There is a connection between lack of academic success at Western and heavy drinking and drug use. In a University survey covering 1986 to 1990, of students who said they had experienced the problem of “drinking and using drugs more than they wanted to,” 13.6% graduated, 40.8% did not.
- Students are much better at predicting the physical and social impact of alcohol and drug use than in predicting academic impact.
