Mission and Goals
MISSION STATEMENT
Western Washington University is committed to excellence through the provision of quality undergraduate programs. It strives to provide students with opportunities to develop not only intellectually but socially, physically and emotionally as well. This commitment enlarges students’ understanding and appreciation of human heritage, stimulates their abilities to create and share ideas, and contributes to their capabilities to become ethical, caring and involved members of their communities. The quality of students’ experiences in all areas of campus life is key to the university’s success in meeting these objectives. Western incorporates all aspects of the student experience into a comprehensive, integrated program of learning and development. The Student Affairs/Academic Support Services division at Western plays a distinct and essential role in creating a culture that values the integration of the whole student experience into a learning community. This commitment underlies all the services, activities, and educational programs in the division.
The services and programs delivered through Student Affairs/Academic Support Services will continue to assist in the development of a cost-effective high quality learning environment by providing services that support students’ development. This includes developing an appreciation of diverse cultures and lifestyles, and active participation in activities that increase the quality of their academic experience.
