The 20th annual Nakama Conference for the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Services provides an opportunity to:
- Reflect on what we have accomplished and how things have changed over the past 20 years,
- Look ahead to the future and further develop the skills, knowledge and relationships we need to build on our past successes, and
- Have fun and return to work feeling more rejuvenated and motivated!
The purpose of this conference cannot be fully achieved unless members of our Division plan and implement high quality presentations/activities. We ask that you consider contributing your skills and knowledge in your own unique and creative way by submitting a program proposal.
Given the breadth of our division Nakama needs a wide variety of program offerings. To spur your creative thinking here are some possible program ideas:
- Students: supervising students, fostering student learning and success, providing high quality service, who are Western’s students today, etc.
- Diversity: exploring how diversity (such as generation, race, class, sexual orientation) impacts our work with students, parents, and each other.
- Leadership: fostering leadership development in students, ourselves and each other.
- Technology: mass text messaging, Facebook, pod casting, learning commons, email management, etc.
- Assessment: share recent findings, using a logic model, developing and measuring program outcomes and learning outcomes, analyzing, using and reporting assessment results, etc.
- Fun: learning to juggle, workplace relaxation techniques, morale boosting techniques, perks/benefits staff receive and how to use them, etc.
