Transfer Guarantees

Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA)
We guarantee that transfer students, admitted to Western, who have earned a Direct Transfer Agreement (DTA) Associate in Arts Degree from a Washington State Community College will have completed all their general education requirements at Western and will enroll with junior status (Students who fulfilled the composition requirement for their Associate’s degree with an AP score of 3 on either the English Language or English Literature exams shall have junior standing but will need to take or challenge English 101 prior to graduation to satisfy GUR in full).

Associates in Science Transfer (AS-T) Degree
We guarantee that transfer students, admitted to Western, who have earned an Associates in Science Transfer degree (AS-T) from a Washington State Community College need only complete the courses that would have been required for the DTA by their CTC (Typically, one social science and two humanities, or the reverse) and will enroll with junior status at Western.

Washington 45
We guarantee that transfer students, admitted to Western, will receive credit for any course they have completed from the “Washington 45” list.

All courses on the list can be used to meet general education requirements at Western.

Degrees that can be completed within 90 quarter credits.
We guarantee that the following degrees can be completed within 90 quarter credits by a transfer student with an AA degree who did no advanced planning nor completed any prerequisites (This assumes a transfer student maintains a GPA sufficient to be admitted to and to graduate from the major, and enrolls in major courses as recommended by the major advisor. In majors like Economics, which have math requirements, a math placement score sufficient for pre-calculus may be required).
