February 22nd marks the first policy cutoff, meaning policy bills must pass out of their respective committees by next Friday to continue through the process this session. With less than two weeks until then, committees are busy in public hearings considering a wide variety of proposals. This week, the House Higher Education Committee will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. See the House Education agenda. Last week the Washington State Senate adopted Senate Resolution 8615, sponsored by Senator Jeannie Kohl-Welles and honoring Washington girls and women in sports. Among those honored for their accomplishments were an impressive list of WWU Vikings: Lynda Goodrich, the WWU women's golf team, the WWU women's volleyball team, the WWU Women’s varsity eight and junior varsity eight rowing teams, and WWU rowing team captain Megan Northey.
