The XIV International
Congress
"The Silver Jubilee Congress"
of the
International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology
August 3 - 8, 1998
Overview of the Conference
This brief report is primarily intended
for those who weren't able to attend the 14th international IACCP
conference. By all accounts, the conference was a big success.
Approximately 500 psychologists from more than 60 countries attended, making
it the largest of all IACCP conferences.
The rich, varied, and unique program
was enjoyed by all. Taking into consideration all aspects of the
program, there were about 475 separate presentations spread across the
regular and special symposia, paper sessions, poster presentations, the
special Jubilee Speaker Series, and conversation hours with several individuals.
The conference was "bookended" by the Founders' Symposium, which was the
first event on the program on Monday, August 3 and the Millennium Prelude
Symposium: The Present State and Future of Cross-Cultural Psychology, which
was they key event on Friday, August 7.
The complete and final program has
been committed to the "archives" of this website. Everyone is invited
to have a close look at the program.
Comments about the published proceedings
appear in another section of this website.
By now, all current IACCP members
should have received the new and updated Directory. If you haven't,
please contact Ted Singelis, Treasurer, at: teds@ecst.csuchico.edu.
If anyone has a specific question
about the conference that I may be able to answer, please get in touch
with me by e-mail, fax, or phone.
