Card Page 2
Carefully cut out the 27 cards on these two sheets. The card have pictures
which contain:
• Either circles, squares, or triangles
• Either 1, 2, or 3 shapes
• Either white, gray, or black shapes
The object of this game is to collect “sets.”
What is a “set”? In this game, a set is a group of 3 cards which all
the same or all different in any attribute.
So, to be a set, a group of three cards must have:
• all the same shape OR all three different shapes
• all the same number of objects OR all three number of objects
• all the same color OR all three different colors
Examples: This is a set.
The number of objects is ALL DIFFERENT
The shapes of the objects are ALL DIFFERENT
The color of the objects is ALL THE SAME
This is a set.
The number of objects is ALL THE SAME
The shape of the objects is ALL THE SAME
The color of the objects is ALL DIFFERENT
Which cards would complete these sets?

___________ . . .
. . ___________
Answer: In the first group, both cards have circles, so the third must
be a circle.
The cards have a different number of objects, so the third card must
also be different - that is, it must have 3 circles.
Finally, the two cards have different colors so the third card must
be different from white or gray, so it is black.
This missing card has 3 black circles.
In the second group, the missing card has two white squares.
HOW TO PLAY
Shuffle and deal 9 cards in a face up in a rectangular arrangement.
You and one or more players look for “sets.”
If you see a set, yell “Set!”
Show which cards are a set, and if everyone agrees you may take those
cards and place them face down in front of you.
If no one sees a set in reasonable amount of time, deal three more
cards face up.
Continue until all cards are played and all sets are found - the player
with the most sets wins.
