Students, faculty and advisors share responsibility for academic advising at Western Washington University. Students work closely with advising staff and faculty choose among educational options and develop plans to support academic and life objectives. While as staff and faculty we are well prepared to assist students, we rely on them to initiate advising conversations.

  • Providing current and accurate information about Western’s academic programs and degree requirements.
  • Helping students to navigate Western’s programs, resources, and policies.

Students are responsible for…

  • Scheduling advising appointments—early and often helps students stay on track toward declaring a major and graduating on time.
  • Preparing for appointments by reviewing advising resources such as the Programs of Study in the University Catalog.
