Education Career Fair: Teaching, Administration and Related Services - Virtual on Handshake

Information for Students/Alumni
The Education Career Fair provides an opportunity to meet with employers seeking to connect with students of all class levels/majors and alumni who are seeking options to utilize their degree and acquire skills and experience within education sectors!
When is the career fair? Tuesday, March 8th, 9AM-1PM PST
Where(how) is this career fair taking place? Virtually on Handshake. Upon registration, you will need to register for available 1:1 timeslots and group sessions. Signup for all sessions typically takes place in advance of the event and we cannot guarantee availability of day-of timeslots. Employer registration will be ongoing, please log into your Handshake account regularly to view newly-added employers and updated employer schedules.
What is the cost to participate? This event is FREE for the entire Western Community!
I’m a sophomore and have not declared a major, can I still attend? Yes! This virtual event is designed for students of all class levels, declared or undeclared majors—and alumni are encouraged to attend. The only criteria is that you are a WWU student or alumni!
How do I register? Log in to your Handshake Student Account and scroll to “upcoming career fairs” to review registration details and sign up! Once registered, you will need to go in and select available timeslots of 1:1 appointments and group sessions hosted by participating employers! Employers have until Thursday, March 3rd to register, so it’s important to routinely check the event page for new participating employers and schedule options!
I’m a WWU Alum, can I participate in virtual Career Fairs? Yes! All Western Alumni -regardless of when you graduated, or degree are always welcome at Career Fairs!
- Graduates prior to 2018, will need to request a free Handshake account HERE.
- If you graduated between 2018-2021 and remember the personal email address you submitted to WWU on your degree application form, use that email to log in HERE.

I’ve never used Handshake before -how do I navigate this system?. All incoming/current students automatically have a Handshake account created; you just need to claim your free account. For information on this or Handshake tutorial guides, please visit our Student Handshake Hub. You’re also welcome to request an appointment with Career Services to get started! Handshake provides options to search for jobs/internships, attend virtual information sessions and interviews, register for career fairs and network with the Handshake Community!
How can I learn more about employers participating in this event? Take a look at employer profiles featured in Handshake, visit employer websites, view their LinkedIn profile, or check for jobs, internships and/or upcoming virtual info sessions submitted to Handshake. NEW! We are inviting employers to participate in upcoming event orientations, watch for a list to be announced through Handshake.
How can I best prepare to participate in a virtual career fair? Read through the Career Fair Guide for Students, check our events calendar for upcoming event orientations, read through periodic messages sent to all registered participants through Handshake, schedule an appointment with Career Services to prepare/review your resume or cover letter, or practice your interviewing skills.
