  • Employers who actively used their account in Viking CareerLink within the past year received an invite to activate their account in Handshake. If you need a new email invite, please let the Career Services Center know.
  • Once you’ve successfully logged into your account you’ll find many of the resources you utilized within Viking CareerLink such as posting jobs, requesting an interview schedule, managing applicants, participating in career fairs and more! Here are some quick links to more detailed articles on these topics:
    -How to post a job
-How to request an Interview Schedule
    -Managing Interview Schedule Applicants
-Virtual Career Fairs in Handshake (our first Virtual Career Fair using this resource will be on April 29. For details, visit the CSC events calendar).

Please know that the Career Services Center Staff is committed to the success of employers, students and the larger Western Community in learning how to use Handshake, and we’re fortunate that many employers and schools are already utilizing this resource and are available to us as mentors. Additionally, Handshake offers numerous detailed articles, recordings and online workshops to help with this process! We’re here to learn with you, please reach out to Career Services Center staff if you would like additional support and we look forward to hearing from you about experienced learning about and using Handshake!

  • To get started, visit: https://app.joinhandshake.com/employer_registrations/new and enter your email address, desired password and click Sign Up.
  • You’ll then be prompted to enter in information about yourself, none of which will be public to students unless you determine to make your profile public. A popup window will then load with Employer Guidelines, Terms of Services and Privacy Policy. If you are representing what Handshake considers to be a “third party recruiter working on behalf of another company” click either yes or no. Then click Next: Confirm Email.
  • Approximately 10 minutes after selecting Next: Confirm Email you should receive a link to your designated email to confirm your account. You must click this link before you can proceed with the registration process. Missing a confirmation email? Please look through a Confirmation Email Troubleshooting Guide produced by Handshake.
  • Upon receiving your confirmation email and clicking confirm email, you will be redirected to Handshake to select one of two options. You can conduct a search for an existing company profile OR create a new company profile.
    • If your company already exists in Handshake, the screen will display a list of company profiles associated with your email domain. If there is more than one, review details within each profile. Click request to connect with that company profile and select “Next: Connect to Schools”. Cannot find your company? Please select contact us under the “Not Your Company” heading on the right. This will allow you to submit a ticket to the Handshake Support Team for further assistance.
    • If your company does not exist within Handshake, you can click the Create New Company button on the right.
    • Helpful articles: Review the steps to create an Employer User Account

Before you begin the process of submitting a request for an employer profile on Handshake and utilize recruitment resources, it is important to know that your company profile will first need to be approved by staff within the Career Services Center. Fields such as a non-working website, mismatching email or other questionable information could result in your account request remaining in pending, until information can be verified or corrected.

  • Your company profile is an extremely important tool because it provides an opportunity to tell students/alumni about your company and why they’d want to work there! Consider reading through the How to Create a New Company Profile created by Handshake as a first step.
  • Log into Handshake, and select “keep me logged in” before creating your new company profile, so as not to have pages “time out” as you complete this process.
  • Fields such as company name, industry, website, location, description and company size are required to complete. Optional, but encouraged are a logo and branding image. Once information is added, click Create New Company at the bottom of the page, and you will be redirected to Connect with Schools, where you can choose Western Washington University and submit your company request.
  • Please allow for 2-3 business days for your company request to be reviewed. Once your account is approved, you will have access to resources such as posting jobs, requesting an interview schedule, managing applicants, participating in career fairs and more! Here are some quick links to more detailed articles on these topics and how to utilize Handshake to conduct the following: -How to post a job
