Community Consortium for Cultural Recognitions

Welcome to the Community Consortium for Cultural Recognitions (C3R)

The mission of Community Consortium for Cultural Recognitions (C3R) is to celebrate, preserve, and promote the diverse cultural heritages that enrich our community. Honoring our collective diversity strengthens relationships and enriches the experience of being in community.

Our Goals

  • Honor Diversity: We provide various educational and cultural events and programs to highlight the interconnectedness of the diverse cultures in our community.
  • Preserve Heritage: Our events and programs seek to preserve culture and heritage while increasing awareness and education.
  • Support Artists and Cultural Leaders: Each event and program serves as a resource and platform for artists, educators, and cultural leaders to sustain and nurture cultural expressions vital to our community's identity.

Our Purpose

The Community Consortium for Cultural Recognitions (C3R) connects multiple organizations in a collaborative effort to:

  • Expand education: Our programs promote knowledge and understanding of diverse cultural experiences.
  • Create and attend local events to further participation in the fight for basic human rights: Through this work, we increase community engagement in equity through joint initiatives and projects.
  • Amplify systematically marginalized voices in civil rights advocacy: Ensuring that the narratives and contributions of all community members are heard and valued.

What We Do

The Consortium offers three main learning engagement programs to the Whatcom County Community: Indigenous Peoples' Day, Dr. Martin Luther King Day of Service, and Asian Pacific Islander Desi Heritage Month Festival. All programs are free and open to all students, educators, and community members.
