What is Research Compliance?

Ethics and compliance in research covers a broad range of activity from general guidelines about conducting research responsibly to specific regulations governing a type of research, like human subjects or animal subjects research.

We provide support to faculty, staff, and students conducting research at Western Washington University. This includes consulting on and approving research projects, providing continuing review of exisiting research studies, and providing training on the responsible conduct of research.

The committees supported by this office include the Animal Care and Use Committee (ACUC) and the Instituational Review Board (IRB).
