National Library of Medicine
Maintains an extensive collection of published materials and reference works on veterinary medicine and clinical veterinary medicine, especially concerning those closely related to human health and health research. Also publishes Current Bibliographies in Medicine, which includes those dealing with pain, anesthesia, and analgesia in laboratory animals; care and use of animals; and laboratory animal welfare.

ILAR develops guidelines and disseminates information on the scientific, technological, and ethical use of animals and related biological resources in research, testing, and education, ILAR promotes high-quality, humane care of animals and the appropriate use of animals and alternatives.

The Animal Welfare Information Center (AWIC)
Provides information from its extensive collection of files, referral service, and literature searches from an on-line service, Dialogue, which accesses 300 data bases.

Animal Welfare Institute (AWI)
Publishes a quarterly magazine and distributes publications and videos concerning laboratory animal care.

Foundation for Biomedical Research
Provides information on the use of animals for scientific research, testing and education.

Alternatives for Animal Use

Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing (CAAT)
Provides information on alternatives for the use of animals in product safety testing. Publishes a newsletter and provides information concerning in-vitro toxicology.
