COVID and Well-Being Course Information

Basic Overview

This 20-minute online training covers basics of COVID prevention but focuses mainly on how to take care of your mental health and well-being during a pandemic, and how to navigate college during these new times. This training is an optional resource recommended and available to all current Western students.

We suggest accessing the training and completing it prior to Thanksgiving Break on November 25. This training is optional, but highly recommended, especially for students living, working, or taking classes on campus.  University employees who wish to demo the course can fill out this form to gain access.

All students have been emailed an invitation to the course, which can be used to access the training, or you can log in to the training here. The training will be accessible throughout the 2020-2021 academic year.

Where did the information in the training come from? How often is it updated?

The information about COVID-19 in the course is based on global, national, and local information from sources such as the World Health Organization, Washington State Department of Health, and the Whatcom County Health Department.

As new information about the virus becomes available daily, it is possible that some course content will become outdated over time. Our team will be regularly reviewing the training to update the content, especially regarding resources and processes at Western. In the case that a specific section cannot be updated in a timely manner, we will do our best to insert a disclaimer before/after the relevant area.

Are my survey responses within the training confidential?

Yes, all survey responses are completely confidential; Western will only receive information about the participating student group as a whole and will never see individual student responses. You may also skip any survey question you do not wish to answer, and still complete the remainder of the training.

I live off-campus and/or am taking Western classes at a non-Bellingham location. Will this training still be relevant to me?

Yes, this training is created with the knowledge that many of the students who take it will not be setting foot on campus this quarter.

I’m having technical difficulties with the online training. What should I do?

You can resolve most issues with one of these steps:

  • Switch browsers. Use Chrome or Firefox instead of IE/Edge.
  • Make sure your browser is up to date by visiting:

  • If you seem stuck, your screen may be zoomed in too much causing you to miss a prompt or navigation button. To reset your zoom on a PC type the shortcut Control + 0 and on a Mac type the shortcut ⌘ Cmd + 0.

Technical support is available 24/7 and can be accessed from the Help link within the training.
